Spiced Masala Coffee
Frothy,coffee with delicious aromatic spiced flavour .
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon instant coffee.
- 2 teaspoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- 250 ml skimmed milk
- 6 whole cardamons
- 1 small cinnamon stick.
- 6 peppercorns
- 1/2 inch piece of dried ginger
Method:
1.Crush the cardamon pods and remove the seeds and discard the outer skin.2.In a coffee grinder add the cardamon seeeds, cinnamon, black peppercorns and dried ginger and grind it to a fine powder.Transfer the mixture to a small air tight jar, you will only need 1/2 teaspoon of the spice mixture for this recipe.3.Put the milk in a milk pan and bring it to a boil. Once milk is boiled add to it 1/2 teaspoon of the spice mixture, 1 teaspoon of instant coffee and 2 teaspoons of sugar.Mix and slow simmer for 1-2 minutes.If you have a milk frother you can froth the coffee at this stage but its not necessary.4. Pour the spiced coffee into two mugs and sprinkle a pinch of the spice powder on top of each coffee.Enjoy it hot.
